Derwin Gray, if you don’t know (I didn’t), was an NFL linebacker in the 1990s for the Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers. However he is a real life person too, one who struggled with rejection issues from his father’s absence and addiction. After an injury sidelined him for good, he graduated from divinity school and became the pastor of Transformation Church, one of the top 100 fastest growing churches in America, reinventing his life to be used by God in another capacity. The chapters of Limitless Life introduce us to several people Derwin knows and also Bible characters who had flaws, but were turned around by encounters with and submission to God. Each chapter ends with a Transformation Moment which offers reflection questions for applying the new information to your life and situation.

The subtitle for Limitless Life is, “You are more than your past when God holds your future.” This is so powerful because everyone, if they are honest, has something in their past that they feel limits them, or makes them worth less in their own eyes or someone else’s—certainly in God’s. But God is all about grace, because He loves us so much that He sent His son to die for our sins, so no one would have to suffer that eternal punishment. Once we’ve accepted Christ, we can learn to worship and have a relationship with Him, grow to find our purpose, and let God use us to bring others to Him.
