Book Review: Health, Wellness and Longevity

dimon

Buy Health, Wellness and Longevity Now

Health, Wellness & Longevity by Steve Dimon reflects a wealth of research. So much more than an Eat This While Avoiding That premise, Health Wellness & Longevity goes through every possible topic including where food comes from, GMOs, macronutrients, water, sugar, grains, types of dietary fat, detoxing, how to eat for health, micronutrients, techniques for healing, and so much more. The appendices include doctor testimonials to prove the efficacy of Dimon’s methods. His expertise comes from the self-learning he undertook after suffering a stroke. Using these techniques he was able to heal himself and he wishes to spread the word and coach others to do the same.

You will be surprised to learn of the healthiness of chicken skin and dark meat. The brain contains a high percentage of fat, as do certain other areas of the body, so to be healthy it is not recommended to adopt a low fat diet. Something else you may not realize is that pharmaceutical companies, lobbyists, and government subsidized farming have a powerful on your health. Profit is the reason your doctor receives free drug samples to hand out to patients—thereby getting them dependent. It’s also the reason the government has paid farmers to grow, or even not to grow, certain crops. Be wise and learn the cultural factors that affect our diets.

Are eggs good or bad? What really causes cancer? Are GMOs and irradiated foods really safe? Steve Dimon will help you to evaluate all this and more in Health, Wellness and Longevity in a user friendly understandable way. I am always looking for ways to improve my health so I enjoyed listening to this audio book. It will provide you with many facts and methods to improve your own health.

Book Review: Full Color Life – How to live a creative, balanced life

Full Color Life by Margery Walshaw is an amazing book. It is a career balancing book, but not in the typical sense. It is mostly geared toward writers and other creatives, but these principles could be applied to any type of career. As a writer, I found it extremely helpful to be reminded to balance spiritual, physical, and mental or emotional aspects of my life to benefit my creativity. Full Color Life would be helpful to any artist, writer or potentially even for dancers and aficionados of other art forms.

Part 1 of Full Color Life deals with understanding why balance is important and the different factors that may be at play. There may be fears, beliefs and biases based on or rooted in things that happened in your life in the past. Part 2 contains chapters relating to diet, fitness, schedule and relationships. All of these areas need to be individually balanced in one’s life to be most effective at whatever one chooses to do, in their career or otherwise. Part 3 is the practical application of the principles outlined in the book. Full Color Life means just that. Your diet will include vegetables of many colors. Your exercise program, your schedule and your relationships should also be similarly varied in content. Variety is indeed the spice of life and if you choose variety you will be more creative. This book as I mentioned will be very helpful to me as an author and in the many other creative hobbies and pursuits which I enjoy.

Margery Walshaw is an acclaimed lecturer and publisher with the firm, Evatopia.

Book Review: The WILD Way to Lucid Dreaming

wild

Buy The WILD Way To Lucid Dreaming

I was so impressed by The WILD Way to Lucid Dreaming, by Slider. I have been interested in lucid dreaming for quite some time and this is the only method that gave me any success. I was able to reach the first goal the very first time I tried, and the second time I tried I was sitting at my desk and flipped into a lucid dream and almost fell off my chair. It’s recommended to try this only while lying down.

Lucid dreaming is realizing in a dream that you’re dreaming, an awareness of what’s happening. Think of the film, “Inception” as that is what they were experimenting with. Lucid dreaming sounds like a lot of fun, but it also has some practical uses. Have you ever wanted to fly in a dream? You can with lucid dreaming. Once you are in a lucid dream, just intend or think about what you want to do or where you want to go, and it happens.

This is the best book I have read so far on this subject. I’ve mentioned that I had success with it already. WILD is an acronym for Waking Induced Lucid Dreaming, as opposed to DILD or Dreaming Induced Lucid Dreaming. Many or most of the other lucid dreaming books out there require you to go to sleep, and then pick up clues you have been conditioning yourself with to realize that you are dreaming. For instance, some dreamers say to look at your hands. If you are dreaming, they may not look normal and you will hopefully realize that. They may appear to be deformed or disappear as you look at them. Sounds frightening, but there is no danger with the WILD method. Slider has truly achieved a landmark and everyone with any interest should pick up a copy of The WILD Way to Lucid Dreaming.

What’s New About the New Year?

Are you still making New Year’s resolutions? I used to drive to a quiet lake on a dirt road on New Year’s Day, and think about things that I needed to change in my life.

gilligan-lake

Now the road is paved and I found out that it has a different name (Gilligan Lake) on Google Maps from what we always called it (Holt’s Lake). But I digress. It was a lovely spot to sit and think and that is what I need at times like this. Maybe I will take a trip there on my next day off. I haven’t been there in awhile.

My life has gotten so busy and hectic that I’m lucky if I can sit and sip tea and look out the window for 5 minutes a day. That will be happening a lot more in the near future as one of my resolutions this year is to do things that feed my soul, find my bliss, fulfill me. No matter what cliche I use, it sounds trite. Anyway, it all boils down to self-image or self-esteem. I deserve to be happy and I now allow myself to pursue my dreams and create my future.

If there are bad habits in your life, or you need to go after something you’ve always dreamed of, this is the time to do it. Find ways to make yourself a better person. Do something nice for someone else. Develop a new good habit. Whatever change looks like to you, now is the time. Write that novel or learn how. Learn a language. Make a new friend. I promise you won’t regret it.

Leave your thoughts in the comments below, and, Happy New Year!

Book Review: Chemicalism

chemicalism

I am a Chemaholic! Are you? Find out here.

There are so many chemicals in our food and drinks that many of us are sick and tired. Tap water can contain plastics, weed killers, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals and other toxins. Even bottled water, if it does not say “spring water” or “purified water,” is simply tap water bottled for convenience. This alone can have terrible effects on your body. Your organs are designed to purify what is in your body, and excrete the toxins, but they can become overloaded and diseased. Why not put in only the best?

Simon Kadwill-Kelly has done an amazing thing. He has put together a healthy eating and lifestyle plan, simply enough that anyone can follow it, but still with enough detail and new information that I, a certified Nutrition Consultant, learned several things. For instance, I knew that food can be addictive. But I had no idea that filling up with nutritious food and pure water, and never taking a bite of chocolate, or cookie, or a drink of tap water, would give you so much energy. And I didn’t know that it can take weeks for your body to get used to the healthy changes, during which time you may feel like you have a cold, or tired, or even experience skin eruptions and bowel movement changes. Never fear; according to Simon you will one day have energy to burn! He himself had severe sciatica (back pain) for ten years, and when he had recovered through this plan he went for an ambitious bicycle ride and still had energy when he got to his destination, so he went even further.

Chemicalism by Simon Kadwill-Kelly is a book for anyone who would like more energy or to heal themselves, and has tried diets, exercise, and pills. He lost 3-1/2 stone (about 50 pounds) using healthy, natural foods and pure water.  This is not a guarantee of results, but it makes so much sense. I am excited to try it and buy a better water purifier too because Kadwill-Kelly says you must even use purified water for making tea and boiling food. I have tried many things in the past myself, and am healthier than I used to be, but I would like to feel better. This is an easy recipe for me because I know how to cook, so I hope to have great results.

Book Review: The Alchemy of Well-Being

alchemy

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M157BN3

The Alchemy of Well-Being is one of the most interesting health books I have read in a long time. Dr. Matthew Potts has created a system whereby one can discover the root of their health and life problems, utilizing a lengthy questionnaire. This questionnaire, called the Code Breaker, delves into areas such as eating habits, thought patterns, relationships and symptoms to come up with a prioritized action plan that can help you revolutionize your life. The Code Breaker will tell you where to start and which chapters to read first for best results, which will help to prevent burnout with implementation of your action plan.

Alchemy was designed for a person like me. If you like to check off boxes and be part of creating your own step by step plan for self-improvement, then it was written for you too. Dr. Potts is even available for one on one consultations either by Skype or in person if deeper work is indicated and desired. As a certified Holistic Health Practitioner and Master Herbalist myself, I can tell you that the nutrition recommendations are right on. I found some areas where I have slipped in my own diligence and so it is a valuable reminder even if you know what you should be doing, to actually do it. The section which I believe will be most instrumental in my own situation is that of overcoming emotional blocks. Through a short series of questions I was able to reveal negative thought patterns and hope to eradicate them through a special technique you will learn from this book. Thanks to Dr. Potts for this groundbreaking, or should I say code breaking, new book.

Book Review: The Torch Principle

torch

Buy “The Torch Principle” here

The Torch Principle: Light Up Your Mind is a fun book, but not easy. Javier Ideami has written a creative book on solving one’s problems. This book is compelling and innovative and a lot of work went into its creation. If you want creative ideas for improving your life, they are here. While Ideami will not tell you in so many words how to solve your problem, he will help you to determine precisely what it is with a series of questions and “drilling down” to the core and root of the issue. With exacting detail, he gives instructions for looking at the problem in many different ways.

He has even developed online tools which the reader can access, making this a truly multimedia accomplishment with videos, charts, and software to look at your issue in myriad ways. One of Ideami’s main points is to diverge (look at all sides and even at things that may not seem to connect) and then converge (connect them). By brainstorming, the reader can discover many, many ideas, even though some of them sound crazy, even though some of them sound dumb. But through all of this searching and trying, the reader will come up with something new that works.

I find this method truly creative and, while reading The Torch Principle, I decided on my “challenge” (Ideami’s word for a problem or issue). That very day, I made a contact regarding my challenge and I received a phone call that evening to schedule a meeting on it for the next day. I’m a believer and this method sparked new confidence in me. Hopefully, the rest will be history after the meeting.
